2025 Conference Online Venue!
Back to Internship Fair Overview
Support and Troubleshooting (Google Meet)
Starting at 10:30am, internship supervisors will be in their respective video chat rooms waiting for you to join them. If the virtual booth has video chat available, you will click on a button that says, "Chat with..." If not, most virtual booths will have useful information and ways for you to engage with that information.
Just as if we were attending in person, be respectful and courteous to others. You may type your questions into the chat box if the supervisor is chatting with other students. They have been encouraged to respond to your questions and inquiries on any contact forms they have set up here in the Virtual Venue.
Thank you for being willing to still help facilitate the Internship Fair despite being virtual this year. We also created booths for facilities who have either posted on our website previously or are listed as a UofU Best Practice site.
We wanted to send a few reminders for our Virtual Internship Fair.
Please be in your virtual room no later than 10:15am.
Due to the nature of virtual meetings, we remind you to please be professional and informative during live sessions with students. Monitor the chat for questions and respond verbally or type.
After the Internship Fair, please respond to any student contact form submissions in a timely manner. URTA created these forms as an easy way for students to get more information from facilities.
URTA Executive Committee members will be rotating between facility meetings to ensure students can join and there are no technical problems. Please contact us via this Google Meet link or text 801-896-4482 if you have any problems.
Thank you again for assisting students in their career efforts for furthering Recreational Therapy here in Utah. If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to contact us.

Our residential treatment programs include an extensive recreation therapy program designed to help students have successful experiences through physical, cultural and social accomplishments. While at Youth Care in Utah, students learn to use their community as a resource. Students build self-esteem as they try new activities in our programs such as snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, or indoor climbing. Recreation therapy programs provide students with the opportunity to learn problem-solving, teamwork, communication skills, and trust.
Our recreation program also includes service-based activities each week. During these times, students can be seen serving food to the homeless or filling shelves at the food bank. Such community service programs help students develop empathy for and an understanding of others. Additionally, while participating in recreation programs, students work on appropriate social skills, communications skills, coping skills and interpersonal skills as well as develop new talents. In our recreation program, students participate in structured recreation therapy as well as outdoor adventures and cultural experiences.
Our proximity to many and varied sites of historic, recreational and ecological significance, as well as Utah Symphony, Ballet West, and many performing art theaters allow a broad and interesting therapeutic environment. The Recreation Therapy program at Youth Care is overseen by nationally certified and state licensed recreation therapists.
The goal of all recreation therapy programming at Youth Care is to increase a student’s ability to regulate their emotions and their distress tolerance skills. Interventions focus on these core skills of Dialectical Behavior Therapy and teach skills in an experiential setting. This allows students to not only receive an understanding of the skill, but to actually gain hands-on experience using the skill.
