Recreational Therapist/Technician- Southern Utah Veterans Home
The Recreational Therapist/Technician works under the supervision of the Recreational Therapy Director (or Assistant Director, in the absence of the Director), to meet the needs of residents in the facility. The Recreational Therapist/Technician assists the Director or Assistant Director in implementing the APIED process with residents in the facility, working alongside a team of other RT professionals. They work to meet the residents’ emotional, mental, physical, spiritual, and social needs, as identified in their plan of care. This will be accomplished through a variety of means, including but not limited to involvement in inter-disciplinary team meetings for planning of care, 1:1 interventions, small resident groups, large social gatherings (such as for holidays), outings into the community, and walks around the facility grounds. Responsibilities:
The Recreational Therapist is responsible for planning and implementing therapeutic and evidence-based Recreational Therapy services at Salt Lake Behavioral Health in order to meet the physical, cognitive, emotional, social and cultural needs of patients by a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist. This position involves defining and implementing treatment goals as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team and supporting patients in their mental health journey. The Recreational Therapist strives to build a strong therapeutic alliance through empathetic and continuous patient care, observation, interaction and role modeling to patients. Qualifications

Under the supervision of the Therapeutic Recreation Program Director, AWARE’s Recreational Therapist (RT) is responsible to respond to assigned TRP intake referrals. RT will meet with client to provide therapeutic recreation assessment to identify strengths, personal goals, aspirations and capacities to further independence in lifestyle as well as to support the client toward heightened health and well-being.
Through conversations with client and their identified circle of support, RT will design a care plan with measurable objectives and interventions to support client goals. RT will consult and work collaboratively with the treatment team to support overall direction of treatment including taking part in team meetings and trainings.
Implementation of TR plan of care will utilize client preferred experiences and interventions that are experiential / recreative in nature. Purposeful interventions may include leisure education and planning, social and relationship skill building, community integration, fitness, health and wellness and independent living skills. Services may be offered in the home, AWARE facility or in the community.
RT will be responsible to design protocols for interventions and offer services that may include individual sessions or groups. Provide timely documentation in the designated EHR on client progress or challenges toward achievement of identified treatment objectives. Engage in ongoing evaluation of services to ensure efficiency and quality of services offered. Upon transition or upcoming discharge, RT will work with the team to provide planning and recommendations for success.

Programs Manager - Common Ground Outdoor Adventures
Position Description: Under the direction of the Program Director, the Programs Manager is responsible for the planning and implementation of adaptive outdoor recreation programs, management of program staff and volunteers, and assistance with outreach, promotion, and grant reporting. The Programs Manager spends approximately 75% of their time in the field and 25% in the office planning and reporting programs. Programs Manager can expect to attend one multi-day trip per month (February – November). Programs Manager can expect to manage snow sports operations at Beaver Mountain Ski Area during the winter months.
Responsibilities:
Oversee all aspects of outdoor recreational program (recruitment, planning, implementation)
Purchase, maintain, and inventory program equipment
Prepare and submit program budgets/ maintain program expenditures
Maintain relationships with land use agencies, community partners, and negotiate use contracts
Assist with community relations and fundraising efforts where appropriate
Meet monthly and annual program goals and objectives, reporting on these efforts on a monthly basis
Keep up to date on current adaptive outdoor recreation techniques and changes in the field.

The Recreation Therapist works under general supervision responsible for planning, implementing and coordinating the recreation program under the general direction of the Recreation Director. Full Time Recreation Therapist- New Focus Academy
Responsibilities
Develops schedules, budgets, and various protocols involving the Recreation Therapy Program. Assess students’ level of functioning and well-being within various domains of life, develops treatment goals, plans, and implements intentionally chosen activity and community-based interventions and techniques that are specifically designed to promote increased functioning and well-being within the assessed domains. Documents students progress and provides a discharge summary. Participates in the management of a therapeutic adolescent environment including: developing rapport with adolescents, therapeutic community group sessions, crisis intervention, problem solving management and intervention group meetings, and activities for daily living. Participates in the professional multi-disciplinary case conference meetings and contributes to the prescriptive treatment plan and interventions development and implementation.
Minimum Requirements
Must have current TRS or MTRS licensure as well as CTRS certification.
In addition to education requirements, employee must demonstrate, through prior work experience, competency in consistently exercising professional judgment and discretion in the execution and implementation of milieu management techniques and methodologies.
Must possess a current certificate for cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first aid.
Not required but encouraged: Wilderness First Responder Certification and ROPES Certification.
Knowledge Required:
Must demonstrate understanding of and ability to apply and implement the TR process as outlined in the ATRA standards of practice.
Must demonstrate understanding of and ability to, apply and implement behavioral/psychological theory and principles, as well as treatment approaches for child and adolescent psychopathology. Knowledge and experience in outdoor education/recreation. Effective organizational and management skills required.
Must demonstrate strong leadership skills. Must have a working knowledge of Milieu Management strategies.

Responsibilities:
• Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the activity programs of this facility.
• Assist in the development, administering, and coordinating of department policies and procedures.
• Keep abreast of current federal and state regulations, as well as professional standards, and make recommendations on changes in policies and procedures to the Administrator.
• Review department policies and procedures, at least annually, and participate in making recommended changes (e.g., ADA, ergonomics, air quality, etc.).
• Develop and implement policies and procedures for the identification of medically related activity needs of the resident.
• Participate in community planning related to the interests of the facility and the services and needs of the resident and family.
• Participate in discharge planning, development, and implementation of activity care plans and resident assignments.
• Interview resident/families as necessary and in a private setting.
• Perform administrative requirements, such as completing necessary forms, reports, etc., and submitting such to the Administrator as required.

• Keep abreast of economic conditions/situations and recommend to the Administrator adjustments in activity programs that assure the continued ability to provide daily activities.
• Review and develop a plan of correction for activity deficiencies noted during survey inspections and provide a written copy of such report to the Administrator.
• Assist the Infection Control Coordinator in identifying, evaluating, and classifying routine and job related activity functions to ensure that tasks involving potential exposure to blood/body fluids are properly identified and recorded.
• Review departmental complaints and grievances from personnel and make written reports to the Administrator of action(s) taken. Follow facility’s established procedures.
• Assist the Quality Assessment & Assurance Committee in developing and implementing appropriate plans of action to correct identified deficiencies.
• Develop, implement, and maintain an ongoing quality assurance program for the activity department.
• Participate in facility surveys (inspections) made by authorized government agencies.
• Interview residents or family members to obtain activity information.
• Ensure that all charted activity progress notes are informative and descriptive of the services provided and of the resident’s response to the service.
• Maintain a reference library of written material, laws, etc., necessary for complying with current standards and regulations, and that will provide assistance in maintaining a quality activity program.
• Involve the resident/family in planning objectives and goals for the resident.
• Meet with the administration, medical and nursing staff, as well as other related departments in planning activity programs.
